Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who first inhabited the territory on which the Nairn Family Homes Headoffice is located, in Southwestern Ontario. As settlers, we are grateful for the opportunity to meet here and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of the land and for those who continue today. The three longstanding Indigenous groups of this geographical area are the Anishinaabe Peoples, the Haudenosaunee Peoples, the Lunaapéewak Peoples and Attawandaron Peoples.

 

The three First Nation communities in closest proximity to Nairn Family Homes Headoffice are the:

• Chippewa of the Thames First Nation

• Oneida Nation of the Thames

• Munsee-Delaware Nation

 

We also acknowledge that First Nations, Inuit and Métis families have been particularly harmed by the actions of child welfare and commit to supporting Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination over child and family services. We commit to our responsibility  to the ongoing action to change our practice and support improved outcomes for Indigenous communities.
