Statement of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At Nairn Family Homes, we are a community of staff, foster parents, and volunteers committed to providing safe, supportive, and nurturing homes for children and youth in care.
Our organization was founded by individuals who practiced the Christian faith, and this history continues to be reflected in our leadership. Over time, we have grown into a diverse community of foster families, staff, and volunteers who bring a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences—including a broad spectrum of beliefs. We embrace diversity and value the richness it brings to our mission. We are united in our commitment to creating environments where everyone feels respected and valued.

We are dedicated to meeting the needs of all children and youth—regardless of their race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, or socioeconomic background. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind based on any of these identities will not be tolerated in our community.

Love, acceptance and creating an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered are at the heart of everything we do. It is through this foundation that we are able to truly care for the children entrusted to us.

We commit to following and expect all members of our team to adhere to, the policies and regulations set out by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS), which uphold equity, dignity, and the rights of every individual in our care.

We also recognize that equity is a journey, not a destination. We are committed to ongoing learning, reflection, and growth—continually examining our practices to ensure we are inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.

Most importantly, we believe in centering the unique voices of children and youth in all that we do. We strive to listen actively, engage meaningfully, and empower them to shape their paths within a safe and supportive environment.
